I have noticed that I have several people that have signed up on Shutterstock using my referral code (they just give me a drop down list of names for referrals - nothing more, and just shows what you have in your gallery, same as anyone doing a search)

But noticed that several people that have signed up have no submissions in their gallery?

If you have attempted to submit and either got rejections ...or confused about submission rules and regulations, please shoot me a line.  I am more that happy to help - heck it benefits us both!  I have already helped a few people with this and they have successful and functioning $$$ making galleries.

Just let me know and I will be glad to help

word to the wise.....performed a major no-no and during my busy work schedule and life in general, had forgotten to back up my hard drive.....and in perfect timing, it failed.  I lost months of work since my last back up.

Just a word to the wise, especially if you are a thrill seeker like myself and have your dual drives in raid 0 - stripe config.....back up your work!  If one fails, then you are screwed.  I sit writing this as I am spending my 5th hour with drive recovery software scanning my one recovered drive to see if there's any obtainable info that can be snagged - thus, if I get one person to back up their data, then I have done my job!

ART SWAP- Swap original artwork

Tue Sep 18, 2007, 2:30 AM
ART Swap has started at Sabet TV

Sabet TV is a social networking site for artists to share ideas, post their works, and get more exposure.  Sabet has started an "ART SWAP" in which you can post original works, prints,...anything that you have used your imagination to created and swap it with other talented individuals for their works or art.

I love to get original pieces from other artists, so I have slapped up a couple of my originals that I am willing to part with right now...and sure to put up more soon.

Go check it out, sign up for Sabet TV (not asking any faithful DA members to quit DA as I never will either, but more exposure for your work certainly does not hurt any - plus it's a cool site!).  Make sure to join the ART SWAP group and post you work!

Top 50 Images

Sat Sep 8, 2007, 1:48 PM
TOP 50 IMAGES!

So- in just my first two weeks of posting at Shutterstock, I got in the top 50 most popular images...actually no# 8 overall for photo and vectors and #6 for vectors!

[link]

This means that out of all the 34,000+ images uploaded to the site and added this week...mine was downloaded like mad (which is great cause I get paid for each download).

If you want to add your work- go and sign up:  [link]

They have a great referral plan and even pay the submissions monthly to your Paypal.

Art Site: Sabet TV

Thu Aug 30, 2007, 4:12 PM
Go check out this art site

I am always a big fan of sites that offer the chance for artists to post their work.  Deviant Art being one of the best, but I still post my work several places to get as much exposure as possible on my work.

So- here is a new site by my buddy Ali Sabet called "Sabet TV".  It's a new site, but it has a pretty cool feel to it, very customizable profiles, and plenty of spots to showcase your work for other's too see.

Check it out:

Stock Photo Submission

Sun Aug 26, 2007, 2:40 AM
What is the best stock photo submission sites?

So, I had seen in one of the Computer Arts mags months ago an entire write up on making extra money with your art on stock photo sites.  I then went and did a search for stock photo sites, and as you can imagine....about 10,000 of them exist! (I exaggerate of course, but there's a ton-o-them).

I had then went on a rampage of trying to submit photos and works at some of the sites, with lukewarm success with some of the sites due to requirements and the strict standards of the works!

There's a ton of stock photo providers on DA, so what IS the best stock photo submission site out there?

What's the one that (in your opinion) is the best, the worst, the one that pays the best, etc.?????

Which one's are a pain to submit to?

Which ones have you had some bad luck with - didn't pay correct amount, etc.???

What made this pop up into my head, is that a fellow DA member turned me onto Shutterstock and they have a referral program too...and so far, this seems to be the most promising one of the bunch.  They are more realistic on the submission requirements and they are straightforward on the payments, etc.

Here is the link for the sign up:
Submit Photos to Shutterstock and make $$$!

Let me know and fellow readers what your "real-world" experience is with your stock photo sites!

Image Transfers

Image Transfer Info Sites: How to do Image Transfers

So, someone had posed a question to me about image transfers.  I have always been interested in doing them, but never dove into it...I am always interested in doing all diff types of projects...esp' when they get low-tech!

so here's a couple of links - this one does them all and is pretty cool...more for scrap booking, etc, but you can get the hint and apply it to anything:
[link]

Here's a cool step by step...more on fabric, but I guess you could use any type of material:

Here's a cool one that utilized photocopies - I may cut my teeth on this one?:

Here's a cool one - using your printer and some gesso, make some cool effects:

Weekly Featured Artist

Fri Jul 27, 2007, 10:39 AM
***I am this weeks featured artist at Imagekind***

I am the weekly featured artist at Imagekind ([link])  This is a site that only sells prints and doesn't offer all the goodies such as DA, but is an awesome site that gets a lot of traffic.

Gotta go check it out - many of the works that you see in my gallery are posted there, some do not overlap.

The cool thing is that they offer multiple galleries to break you work up -such as photography and character design like I have mine.  It's a very different site compared to DA and more like a professional online gallery to sell your prints.

Make sure to drop me a line while your there- thanks!

BAD ART

Sat Jul 21, 2007, 12:15 PM
So ran across this very interesting site...."THE MUSEUM OF BAD ART" (MOBA) "Art too bad to be ignored"

I ran across this site and like a car crash...had to sit and stare...and dig thru it all.  Funny, but I am sure (along with most people reading this) could dig up several pieces in their current collection that could qualify for the MOBA.

Check it out as I am sure you will get a chuckle - or some inspiration?? :  [link]

VECTOR DOWNLOADS

Mon Jul 9, 2007, 3:08 AM
Here are some sites that offer free download samples of their products- check them out!

I know many people on DA make vector designs for use by all.  Some also offer vector packs for sale and offer free downloads / samples of their product.  I would like share a couple - just in case you haven't run across them yet.

GOMEDIA:  [link]

- make sure to add these guys on your DA watch list as they post new vector packs on a regular basis and have some awesome designs and a very extensive collection that they sell.  Go to their DA page and dig thru their gallery and find some of their vector packs to download - all the designs are clean and ready to use.  Out of every site or vendor that I have run across that offer's vectors for sale, this is certainly the most extensive and best collection- looks like it's worth the $$$

VECTORVAULT:  [link]

-go to their website and make sure to sign up to receive update, info, etc.  Every week or so I get an email letting me know that there are some new vector designs for download.  Their designs are also clean and ready to use.  Also a great collection overall.

Let them know how much you like their product - esp' if you use the free downloads - either by sending them a msg or by purchasing their product- enjoy!

Photoshop Cheat Keys

Wed Jul 4, 2007, 9:09 PM
You have to check out this product!

So I have to share this product that I ran across in Advanced Photoshop mag (I think?).

The product is called "Editor's Keys" and they are "stick-on" short-cut keys for Adobe Photoshop.  They stick right onto your keyboard keys and they show all the shortcuts that are in Adobe Photoshop.  They also have many other sets of shortcut keys for other programs such as After Effects, etc.

Being a self-taught Photoshop guy, I had to order them.  Let me pass along my opinion - they "ROCK".

First off, I was hesitant because I live in the US and the product is from the UK, so I thought it would take forever to get here or would get lost, etc (burned on eBay before, so a little gun-shy).  They got here in no time flat - super quick shipping.

They fit perfect on my keyboard and were easy to install.  They stay put - not coming loose or bubbled.  They look great and not cheap or tacky.  They do not interfere with typing nor with anyone else that uses the keyboard.  They have helped my find functions that I really spent time looking for in the past in the menu bar in Photoshop.

I can't recommend them enough.  I can honestly say they were certainly worth the coin $$$ that I dropped on them.  If my keyboard craps out - I will order another set- for sure!  And, they also take Paypal to make it easier on ya.
